The Boston College Eagles improved to 3-1 with a 17-14 win over the Huskies of Northern Illinois in Chestnut Hill. The Huskies gave the Eagle defense all it could handle but in the end it was BC who came away with the victory. In four games this season the Eagle defense has allowed a total of just ten points. The Eagles gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown and a FSU touchdown in BC’s only loss thus far are the only scores the Eagles have given up all season.
Freshman quarterback Troy Flutie threw for a twenty seven yard touchdown pass in his first career start. Running back John Hilliman ran for a twenty one yard score for BC’s offensive punch.
With Saturdays win BC stays in fourth place in the ACC division. The Eagles are behind NC State, Clemson and Syracuse. All three teams are undefeated. Saturday BC meets the Bluedevils of Duke are are also 3-1. Duke is also in fourth place in the tough Coastal conference behind the Hurricanes of Miami.
Look for Troy Flutie to remain as BC’s starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. Number one signal caller Darius Wade is out for the season with a broken ankle.
Notable Duke players to keep an eye on are safety Jeremy Cash.
