The BC Eagles are hard at work getting ready for the 2015 football campaign. BC is blessed with a young eager squad trying to qualify for a 2015 Bowl bid. The Eagles are 13-11 in Bowl appearances dating back to their first Bowl victory in a win over Tennessee. Since then the Eagles rank 31st in the country in Bowl appearances. The two most recent a loss last year to Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl and a 2013 loss in the Indeendence Bowl to Arizona Wildcats. BC’s strengths and weaknesses . Their strengths are a strong front seven on defense.led by MLB Steven Daniels. Daniels a senior led the team with seventy two tackles last year. The Eagles schedule of Duke and Wake Forrest will be their big test The odds makers haves FSU with Miami 10-1 and Georgia Tech 4-1.The safe bet is BC going 6-6 The worst case scenario is BC winning three games.
BC weaknesses are it’s inexperienced offense. The Eagles have sophmore quarterback Darius Wade taking over in place of graduated Tyler Murphy. Wade is a gifted quarterback with a strong throwing arm and two talented receivers in tight end Dan Crimmons who led the team with 25 catches for just over three hundred yards. Overall BC ranked second in the nation in 2014 rushing. Another talented receiver Wade has to throw to is wide receiver Phil Steele.. Backing up Wade in case of injury the Eagles have three freshman. John Fadule, Troy Flutie, and Jeff Smith. Also the Eagles have a very young offensive line. The backfield is well stocked with returning upper classman Johnathan Hilliman.
The 2015 season should be a big challenge for head coach Steve Addazio and his coaching staff. With a young quarterback to work with the offense is work in progress. Look for BC to go five hundred at 6-6 in the grueling ACC conference. But with a proud football tradition at BCthe Eagles will meet the challenge head on.
