With the 2015 baseball in high gear people are already talking about a mangerial change in Boston. If the Sox continue to slide like they have been current current Red Sox skipper John Farrell maybe on the chopping block.Stability has been the issue for the Sox since two time world champion manager Terry Francona was fired after the2011 season. Francona enjoyed a successful rein in Boston delivering two titles to Boston. Francona ended the drought since the last title was won in 1918.
The Red Sox have not had the success of stable coaches like the other Boston sports teams. The Bruins have had great success under Claude Julian with a Stanley Cup win followed by a Stanley cup game seven loss. The Celtics enjoyed a trip to the playoffs and a very respectable 40-42 record. It looks like Stevens maybe here long term. And of course their’s ha;ll of fame coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots with four super bowl wins and two super bowl loses.
The same hasn’t been the case for the Red Sox. After Franonas dismissal in 2011 the Sox hired incompetent Bobby Valentine. Valentine was practically laughed out of town with a last place finish and a disappointing 70-92 record. The same as been followed by John Farrell. The Sox did enjoy success under Farrell with a World Series championship to his credit. However the past two seasons have been a huge disappointment.last year was a last place finish at 71-91.This year is pretty much the same as last year. The only bright spots have been the call ups from Pawtucket.Out fielder Mookie Betts, catcher Blake Swihart, and pitcher Matt Barnes, and pitcher Steven Wright have been the teams bright spot.in a dismal season.
A major trade won’t necessarily help the ball club. Giving the kids time and showing patients are the key elements for a winning season. If the Farrell doesn’t get tough and creative with his team and the Sox don’t get hot the summer of 2015 maybe the same as last year and John Farrell will be out of a job.
