With one game and one win in the 2015 record books time will only tell if Boston right hande can be a true ace of a pitching staff. In eight season s as Boston’s starter Buchholz has compiled a 67-44 record an era of 3.89 and a total of 8 complete games. The 2015 season will be Buchholz’s big test to see if he can be a true ace and stopper of a major league staff.
Hopefully Buchholz can match his 2010 seas0n high wins of 17 to go along with an impressive era of 2.33. But since 2010 Buchholz has had only one successful season and that was in 2013 when he went 12-1 and a sharp era of.1.74. Last year was certainly a disappointment for Buchholz which saw him drop to 8-11 and a 5.34 era with only two complete games. Last year however was a disater and disappointing year which saw the Sox sink to last place and a horrible 71-91 record Thus far Bucholzz has been overshadowed by John Lester who went to the Cubs in the off season. Buchholz was also part of a rotation that departed John Lackey in it. This season is a different situation. Buchholz saw himself as the opening day starter and winner in an 8-0 shutout over the Phillies. Lester is no longer in the middle of thepact. He is on top followed by Rick Porcello,Wadw Milwy, Justin Masterson and Joe Kelly. He also has a pretty powerful lineup that includes Pablo Sandoval, Hanley Ramierez. Put them along with David Ortiz,Mike Napoli and Mookie Betz Boston is sure to give their pitching staff plenty of run support for the 2015 season.
With new faces in the lineup 205 could be the key season for Clay Buchhol’s career.A successful campaign could land him a big payday or even better another opportunity to pitch in a world series.Whatever happens Red Sox management is giving him every opportunity to prove himself. He’s no longer in the middle of the pact but now a number one starter. With John Farrell at the helm and excersising the proper patients Buchholz could be one of the best starting pitchers in baseball.
