As the 2014 Celtic season approaches us Celtics general manager Danny Ainge has some serious decision making to do. For starters veteran point guard Rajon Rondo is in the last year of his contract. After this season Rondo is free to walk. With seventeen draft picks in the the next three years Ainge has some decisions to make. Gambling on Rondo would be risky. Chances are he will not resign with Boston for the simple matter he wants to play for a contending team. His return late last season did not prove worthy enough of him to resign. The Celtics still had a sub par year even when he returned in late February. The Celtics with an influx of young talent developing namely Marcus Smart, James young, Phil Pressey, and newly signed swing man Evan Turner,Marcus Thornton from Cleveland Ainge may start dealing again.Come opening night it could very well be that Rondo may not be on it. To risk keeping him for most of the year would be foolish and risk the chances of getting some decent talent in return.Boston is still light years away from contending.Kelly Olynik,Jarred Sullinger and AveryBradley are nice pieces but no where close to competing for a playoff spot this year.
