Jackie Bradle’ys demotion to Pawtucket was a result of poor decision making by the Red Sox front office. General manager Ben Cherrington and braintrust no doubt rushed Bradley and definitely hurt his confidence by sending him to Pawtucket. This was a decision that should of been made in spring training to atleast give the kid a chance to be sucessful at the major league level.By sending him down in March this would of given him an opportunity to experience major league pitching. Hes never had one single at bat of triple A pitching. His predecessor Jacoby Ellsbury had at least a thousand at bats of triple A experience before he was called up. Teamate Dustin Pedroia had eight hundred in 03 the year before he got called up. The bright side is Bradley is young enough twenty four to work it out. A 212 batting average wont cut it anywhere at the big league level. Un like his teammate Xander Bogarts who’s hitting 230 with eight homers is slightly more productive but seems lost on many occasions. Bogarts is on the cusp of being sent down also or even worse being dealt in the off season. Their is good reason to believe both Bogarts and Bradley could be gone after this season. Not to mention Teammate Will Middlebrooks who is also struggling. Both Bogarts and Bradley both combined have over two hundred strike outs. A far cry from last years team that lead the league in runs scored. Bradley was replaced by highly touted Mookie Betts who went one for three last night. Bradley on the otherhand went zero for five in his Pawtucket debut.Make no doubt about it the Redsox brain trust has their work cut this offseason. Replacing John Lester and John Lackey are just two pieces of a very big puzzle.
