The Patriots are set to begin their second pre season game against the Philadelphia Eagles Friday night. The Pats have been participating in joint sessions with the Eagles all week. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will not see any action. Gronkowski has been limping in practice all week and had limited participation. Philadelphia will be without the services of wide receiver Jeremy Macklin Macklin is also suffering from a hamstring injury. The Eagles will start 3rd year quaterback Nick Foles. Foles is a third year player out of Arizona. The Eagles lost star receiver Deshawn Jackson to free agency in the off season. It is unsure how much action Pats quaterback Tom Brady will see. Ryan Mallett will get his second straight start. Rookie Jimmy Garoppolo will see at least one perhaps two quaters ofaction.Eagle starters having a good camp are wide receivers Riley Cooper,Jordan Matthews and running back Daren Sproles. Also rookie tight end Zach Ertz has looked good in practice. For Mallett this will be his second start. A sub par performance last week against Washington Mallett needs to work on his passing game which was ineffective. Also he showed signs of ineffectiveness rolling out of the pocket. For Mallet each start means an opportunity to secure his job as Tom Brady’s backup or an opportunity to be picked up by another team.
