God forbid if anything happens to future hall of fame qb Tom Brady. After watching Ryan Malletts performance last Thursday against the Redskins one has to wonder if the Pats can afford to keep Mallet. For starters the 6’6 Mallet has no pocket presence unlike his teammate Tom Brady secondly he cannot roll out of the pocket under pressure like Brady. Thirdly his passing accuracy was way off No where close to NFL standards. Rookie Jimmy Garoppolo showed some spunk. He had some zip on his passes and made good decisions. His touchdown pass was good enough to get the Pats on the board. His showed signs of leadership to which has been on of Brady’s trademarks over the years. Lets not kid ourselves it’ll take two years any way for Garoppolo to develop and learn the opposing defenses. With three new rookie offensive lineman and injuries to veteran Logan Mankins we have to keep our fingers crossed that Brady can get through the 2014 campaign injury free.A succesful post season all boils down to good protection and a healthy Tom Brady. If Malletts performances continue to deterioate during the pre season clearly the Pats will have to be in the market for another quaterback.
